Poetry has a long tradition of sounding social concerns and calling for change. The Rise Up Review follows that tradition of poetry as a tool of power. Editor-in-Chief Sonia Greenfield and her editorial team feature a poem a day, and I thank them for selecting my poem “If You Haven’t Any Daughters” as July 7, 2017’s feature.
I can’t think of a more appropriate home for my poem “Dear Ciaran Carson” than in issue 58 of the Belfast-based A New Ulster. This monthly literary journal publishes poetry and prose from all over the world and is headed by Editor-in-Chief Amos Greig.
