Emerge Literary Journal issue 10

I want to thank Emerge Literary Journal (of ELJ Publications) for giving my poem “Flying Out” such and honored home. While Emerge Literary Journal does publish some established authors, its main focus is introducing the voices of emerging writers. I’m thrilled that the editors accepted “Flying Out” because it was time for that poem to come to a rest. I wrote the early drafts in my sophomore year of my undergrad education at Mesa State College. Over the last 15 or so years, I revisited that poem to revise it and even workshop it more because it was too important to me to just let it die. Some poems are like that; they need time to mature and grow into what they are meant to be.

The journal can be found here for purchase in ELJ Publications’ Book Nook. Also, check out the entire ELJ Publications website to learn about all of the other journals they publish and about submissions for chapbook, full-length collection, novel, and other publishing opportunities.
